Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat
by Lynne Jonell

Emmy was a good girl – too good, perhaps. The rat, whose cage sat on the counter next to Emmy’s desk, was not so good. On the other hand, he was the only one in Emmy’s class who would talk to her. The rest of the kids barely knew she existed. Even her teacher didn’t seem to know she was there! Only her nanny, the lovely-but-sinister Miss Barmy, really pays her much attention. And Emmy would rather she wouldn’t . . .

Why does the rat talk to Emmy and no one else? Why do Emmy’s schoolmates barely notice she exists? And what is Miss Barmy really after?

Teasing out the answers to these questions will plunge Emmy into a wild adventure where everything she holds dear – including her parents’ lives! – is at risk.

This delightful and hilarious book garnered four starred reviews - and has an all star cast! Not only did we bring in author Lynne Jonell to narrate, father and daughter team Tate and Tim Green (yes, the same Tim Green who is the bestselling author of FOOTBALL HERO) play Emmy and the Rat. We had a blast recording this one, and it's guaranteed listening fun.

We Have Achieved Edward!

For those of you who have been wondering why we have not yet recorded the fifth book in my MOONGOBBLE AND ME series, the answer is simple: our brilliant  young narrator, Ryan Sparkes, outgrew the role. Or, to be more precise, his voice changed.

Dang kids keep growing up on us.

The good news is, Ryan continues to work with us. It's just that we have to cast him in older parts.

The bad news is, his maturing voice left us without an Edward.

Happily, I can now report that, after a year of searching, we have found our new Edward! Last week young Zac Fletcher came into the office and gave an audition that just blew us away. He has the acting chops, the reading skill, and the voice we've been looking for. Now we can't wait to get this one into the studio!

Laugh Out Loud with Emmy and the Rat

Our full cast recording of Lynne Jonell's wonderful Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat is now available, and I have to tell you I think it's one of the funniest things we've ever done.

I wish you could have been in the studio to see big Tim Green playing Raston the Rat. In addition to being a former NFL star and a bestselling author, the guy is a terrific actor, and a great sport.

I listened to the finalized recording while driving and found myself laughing out loud over and over again as I traveled. With shrinking kids, an underground rodent city, and a truly evil villainess, how can you go wrong?

Some Love From Reviewers to Start the New Year!

Here are some lovely quotes from some reviews just received . . .

First, a starred review from School Library Journal for Sid Fleischman's amazing The Entertainer and the Dybbuk :
"An entertaining and moving story, told with humor and pathos, and characters who embrace life despite unimaginable tragedies. Featuring excellent narration by Banna Rubinow and a full cast, the tale is brought to life with distinct and lively characterizations. The pacing is quick and sharp, the delivery is excellent."

Next, a rave for our recording of Tamora Pierce's fabulous
Emperor Mage, book 3 of her beloved and bestselling "Immortals Quartet": "[The actors] all do a wonderful job, especially Carmen Viviano-Crafts, who voices Daine, and Mike Komurek as Daine's new friend, Zek the Marmoset. All the drama, humor, anger, and romance come across clearly."

And finally, some sweet words from
SoundCommentary for River Secrets, the third volume of Shannon Hale's wonderful "Books of Bayern" which began with her brilliant retelling of The Goose Girl. (Not only was it one of the great fantasy debuts of the last decade, but our recording won that year's Audie Award for Achievement in Production.)

"Mark Allen Holt skillfully narrates the story as Razo, allowing listeners to feel his insecurities and suspicions. The rest of the full cast breathes life into the remaining characters, as the music used throughout the recording lends an authentic and sometimes ominous feel to the story. The third book in the Books of Bayern Series is a great addition to any YA Audio book collection."
