Studio UpdatesThursday, June 25, 2009 Graceling: The Final CutI'm just finishing my listen to the final edit on GRACELING, and I have to say I think you guys are gonna love it.I get to say that without feeling like I'm bragging, because I didn't have much to do with the hands-on creation of this one. We turned the whole project over to my pal Todd Hobin (Todd directed FAIREST for us, which was nominated for three Audie Awards this year) and boy did he rise to the occasion! Not only did he pull gorgeous performances out of the cast, he has also composed a moving and evocative score that grows and builds as the book goes along, until it feels as if it is an integral part of the story. (I wasn't totally missing in action, of course. I got to play King Ror in two scenes, which was fun, especially since I got to throw a royal hissy fit in one of them.) And here's a bit of of trivia you might enjoy: The evil King Leck is played by none other than Tim Green , author of FOOTBALL GENIUS. Equally cool is the fact that Leck's daughter, Princess Bitterblue, is played by Tim's real-life daughter, Tate. And wait till you hear Prince Po . . .
Monday, June 08, 2009 New Graceling Videos!Staff videographer Jamil Munoz has just posted two videos about our upcoming recording of Kriston Cashore's smash hit debut novel GRACELING. (On track for release this month!)The first shows a bit of the recording process - you'll get to see narrator David Baker, as well as Chelsea Mixon and Zachary Exton, who play the lead roles, and director/composer Todd Hobin. You'll find it here: Recording GRACELING The second is a bit different. Our pal Tamora Pierce is a huge fan of the novel. We gave her an advance listening copy, and she shared some thoughts with us. You'll find that video here: Tamora Pierce
Monday, June 01, 2009 Mini-Documentary on Full Cast Audio and EYES LIKE STARSOne of our favorite actors, Peter Moller , also teaches film making at Syracuse University. Recently he filmed part of the rehearsal and recording process for our production of EYES LIKE STARS an astonishing debut novel by Lisa Mantchev. The film is about fifteen minutes long, so we had to post it in two part on YouTube. It has interviews with several of the actors, as well as artistic director Dan Bostick and, um, me, Bruce. If you're at all interested in how we do our work, I think you'll really enjoy this: Mini-Doc - Part One Mini-Doc - Part Two
